California Department of Consumer Affairs
California Southern University has entered into a voluntary agreement with the California Department of Consumer Affairs whereby the University agrees to comply with the state statutes, rules, and regulations pertaining to private postsecondary institutions in effect on June 30, 2007 while awaiting the state legislature to develop new legislation to replace the Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education Reform Act. The University has continuously operated in California under various state agencies and laws since 1978.
Committee of Bar Examiners
The Committee of Bar Examiners (CBE) of the State Bar of California has authorized registration of the School of Law as an unaccredited correspondence law school, which enables graduates who have complied with the Rules Regulating Admission to Practice Law in California to sit for the California Bar examination.

California Southern University is approved by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) to offer its programs to veterans who qualify for educational benefits under the DVA Chapter 31 Vocational Rehabilitation Benefits program.
