California Southern University accepts students on a continuous enrollment basis. Students may submit applications for admission throughout the entire calendar year. When an applicant is accepted, a Degree Plan will be prepared listing the academic requirements necessary for completion. After admission is finalized, elective courses will be selected and course materials will be made available. Academic advisors guide every student through the program.
Our students are individually advised and counseled through contact with their Faculty Mentor. Students are guided in an orderly manner toward achieving their educational goals in the shortest time possible. While learners are ultimately responsible for their own academic journeys, contact with their Faculty Mentors and Academic Advisor will ensure the utmost success.
The focus of active self-learning is to encourage our students to practice newly acquired knowledge in their current careers. Our Faculty Mentors are valuable resources and facilitators in this process. Students demonstrate a mastery of the course material and its personal relevance by completing assignments, term papers and examinations as required. Courses can be completed in 8 or 16 weeks, depending on the degree program. In the Juris Doctor program, graduate law courses are designed to be completed in 48-52 weeks per year in order to meet the residency requirements established by the California Committee of Bar Examiners.
The staff at CalSouthern will gladly assist you in planning your program to achieve your educational goals. CalSouthern is especially sensitive to the specific needs of adult students returning to college. CalSouthern faculty and staff will guide you through each step for a smooth transition back to the university.
