Our exceptional Faculty Mentors are managers, administrators, consultants, educators, advisors, practitioners, and professionals in their respective fields. They are drawn from industry, business, mental health, and the academic community to assist our students in reaching their educational objectives. They are selected for their interest in promoting self-learning, professional expertise, real-world experience, academic background, and ability to communicate their knowledge and experience to our students.

Our programs are designed to encourage success and develop lifelong learning patterns. Therefore, interaction between faculty and students is an integral part of the University’s process.

A Faculty Mentor is assigned each time you enroll in a course so you have access to an academic specialist in the field.

Faculty Mentors will guide you through each course by phone, email, and through the CalSouthern Learning Center.

Mr. Canseco is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP). He is also a Practitioner Faculty Member at Johns Hopkins University where he teaches Federal Taxation Policy. He is admitted to the Maryland Court of Appeals and The United States Tax Court. As a CPA, Certified Financial Planner and Attorney, Leonardo A. Canseco has over twenty years of experience in researching and providing creative solutions to complicated business and individual tax cases. He has represented clients involved in tax controversies before the Internal Revenue Service and State/Local tax authorities. Mr. Canseco helped form a coalition that drafted proposed tax legislation leading to the inclusion of retirement planning provisions in Section 665 of the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001.

In 2001, Ms. Iler graduated from UCLA with a B.A in Political Science. Ms. Iler attended Notre Dame Law School where she obtained her J.D. After law school, Ms. Iler worked briefly as a public defender before accepting an associate position at a firm in Los Angeles. In civil practice, Ms. Iler specialized in complex civil litigation and litigation relating to government contracts and other regulated industries. Ms. Iler enjoys teaching and is looking forward to helping CalSouthern’s law students on their journey. In her spare time, she enjoys running, camping, reading, UCLA and Irish Football, and spending time with family and friends.

My ultimate dream for my career would be to become a full time professor. My personal interests include travel, scuba diving, cooking, wine tasting, Pilates, and The Office. I have a little Jack Russell who is the light of my world.

I am retired from the active practice of law after 30+ years, primarily as an appellate lawyer. My first career was as a concert pianist and teacher. I have been teaching - various subjects - since I started giving piano lessons at the age of 13, and continue because I find it worthwhile helping students reach their educational goals. I am also a licensed pilot with my own plane.

I am a graduate of Albany Law School of Union University. My current area of practice is in the area of employment law and human resources. I have performed work both in the capacity of an outside consultant as well as in house for organizations on a variety of employment related issues exclusively in the area of employment defense. This has covered a variety of human resources matters. I also have my SPHR (Senior Professional Human Resources) certification which allows me to better assist my clients in this area. I also assist clients in transactional law including but not limited to the preparation, review and revision of various legal agreements and other documents. My background includes working with an eclectic group of industries including the alarm security industry, the financial services industry and insurance defense. When I initially graduated from Law School, I worked as an Assistant District Attorney.
