California Southern University is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) Senior College and University Commission, which is one of six regional accrediting bodies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Regional accreditation is the most highly respected and recognized form of accreditation in the United States, and it provides students with a number of important benefits and opportunities.

The Doctor of Psychology degree meets the educational requirements of the California Board of Psychology for licensure as a clinical psychologist.

The Master of Arts in Psychology degree meets the educational requirements of the California Board of Behavioral Sciences for licensure as a marriage and family therapist (LMFT) as well as for licensure as a professional clinical counselor (LPCC).

The Pre-Baccalaureate Certificate in Addiction Studies meets the educational requirements for certification with the National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors and certification with the California Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors.
