Three Lesser-known Library Services

The CalSouthern LibraryHopefully, you’re aware of my Ask-a-Librarian service—I’m happy to provide you with detailed, personalized responses to all of your research and other library-related questions. And if you submit the form Monday through Friday during normal business hours, you’ll receive a response within a couple of hours. But did you know can also contact me with your questions via Skype at the email address [email protected]?

You may also be unaware of the wealth of personalized APA citation and style support that’s at your fingertips. First, you are invited to attend CalSouthern Learning Success Advisor Frances Simmons’ weekly APA Orientation Video Conference (Tuesdays, 6:00-7:00 p.m. PDT; click here to join).  Also, I am happy to answer any and all of your specific style and citation questions. Just call me at (800) 477-2254, ext. 4023, contact me via email or use the Ask-a-Librarian service.

Finally, were you aware that I am available to provide research assistance to learners working on their doctoral projects? Specifically, I can assist you with the qualitative portion of your research study by helping you perform a comprehensive search for journal articles related to your topic. Since 80 articles are required, this service had proven to be very helpful to those doctoral learners who have utilized it. Just contact me at the onset of your project.

Bonus Fun Fact

CalSouthern has enjoyed dramatic growth in both size and prestige in recent years. This growth is reflected in a wide variety of statistics and metrics, e.g., student body size, graduation numbers and courses completed, to name a few. As CalSouthern’s librarian, a statistic I keep a close eye on is the number of full-text journal articles downloaded from the library’s databases each year. That number for 2014? 124,961, up nearly 20 percent over the previous year. Now that’s a lot of research!

As always, I wish you all the very best in your academic endeavors!
