Brett Gordon, PhD

Faculty Mentor, Business

Areas of Interest and Expertise
Leadership psychology, employee empowerment, values-based customer service, conflict resolution

Dr. Gordon served as the dean of academic affairs for South Florida University until he stepped down in mid-2008 to spend more time with his family. Prior to this, he was the dean of the graduate the school for the Ft. Lauderdale campus of a national university. He originally became interested in online education after observing the flexibility it offered to both students and faculty. After teaching online since 2002, he took his first online course in 2006 to experience it from the “other side.” Prior to entering academia, he served for 11 years in the pharmaceutical industry in the areas of sales, marketing, and corporate training and development.

He is currently working with colleagues on a variety of research areas, using both quantitative and qualitative research methods. He has written several peer-reviewed articles in various management and organizational behavior journals, and he has served as a consultant regarding these areas of interest to both public and private entities.

His personal interests revolve around traveling to Europe with his son and spending time researching his Scottish ancestry. He also flies with the U.S. Air Force AUX as an observer pilot (navigator and radio operator), and works diligently as an officer for his local Masonic lodge.
