The students of California Southern University are a diverse and successful group of accomplished individuals. While most of our students reside in the United States, many others live around the world. They represent a wide variety of professions and educational experiences, they also share the challenges of balancing careers, personal lives, and education.
Many of our students choose CalSouthern because their travel, job and family commitments interfere with traditional campus-based courses and fixed class schedules. Other students choose CalSouthern because they realize that professional career success depends on what you know and the degrees you have earned.
CalSouthern is known for providing an adult approach to higher education. Our goal is to serve the individual needs of our student's lifestyles through online distance learning, providing the individual attention they need to ensure success.
See below to meet just a few of our students and graduates and read what they have to say about their experiences at CalSouthern.

I am from Japan but am currently residing in Los Angeles, California.
One of the reasons I went back to school to earn my Juris Doctor degree was frustration with my limited ability as a legal assistant. Most of our clients are Japanese and I am limited to provide a translation of what the attorney says or thinks about the case. Most clients contact to me directly asking legal questions, advice or opinions. I was very frustrated that I could not provide a more detailed explanation even though I knew the general answer.
I also wanted to challenge my ability to study. I was 40 years of age when I started thinking about studying and did not think I could complete the program but I wanted the challenge.
I was also seeking career and financial establishment. Professional occupation in a stable career which provides stable income.
There was a wonderful feeling of self-satisfaction upon graduating and completing the all the coursework. My immediate goal is passing California Bar Exam and after a few more years of experience as associate I plan to practice independently.

Alan Herrman first attended law school at the University of Kansas after leaving college, but after getting married and having kids he had to put his plans for earning a law degree on hold as his busy life prevented him from finishing law school.
He now works in real estate and knew that a working knowledge of the law would help him in his career, so he returned to CalSouthern School of Law to finish what he started. Through the distance learning format, he was able to complete his Juris Doctorate and enhance his knowledge of the law and how it relates to his work.

Leah Coates didn't let her demanding job and long hours get in the way of earning her J.D. degree. After attending a local law school she realized that while she wanted to study law, the demanding schedule was not convenient and was taking away from her work and family time. Leah began researching online law schools and after comparing her options decided to enroll with CalSouthern in March of 2006. She was pleased to learn that the credits she had previously earned could be transferred, and in just over 2 years she graduated from the California Southern University School of Law.
