The course will prepare learners for their professional lives in scientific, technical, or public service fields by helping them organize their knowledge while exploring ways of applying it, thus developing their professional expertise. A variety of media and formats will be studied, including websites, emails, proposals, memos, and instructions.

Learning Outcomes:
  • Describe general strategies for explaining and instructing technical information in writing.
  • Demonstrate various document design options and presentation features.
  • Explain various types of visuals and how to apply graphics and visuals to make writing more aesthetically appealing.
  • Describe the necessary contents for a manual, as well as other product-support items.
  • Demonstrate how to write effective reports and proposals as well as fliers, brochures, and newsletters.
  • Demonstrate how to write professional papers, such as the technical scientific paper, as well as academic papers.
