The faculty mentors in CalSouthern’s School of Behavioral Sciences are skilled and experienced clinicians as well as dedicated, responsive and highly credentialed educators.

They will be there for you—via phone, email or Skype—to answer any questions you may have and to help you master the course material. And, equally important, they will help you take the concepts you learn and apply them to resolve challenges commonly faced in clinical practice today.

Colleen Kelly, MS

Areas of Interest and Expertise
Emotionally focused therapy for couples, focusing, mindful awareness training, addiction and recovery

Colleen Kelly is a licensed marriage and family therapist with practices in Encino, CA, and Irvine, CA. Colleen treats adults, couples, families and adolescents. Colleen specializes in couples work and has advanced training in emotionally focused therapy. She has worked with at-risk youth in schools, at a medical clinic and at an outpatient treatment center. Colleen also specializes in addiction work, particularly in helping couples and families to navigate and heal personal relationships in the context of recovery. Colleen is on staff at Healing Path Recovery, an intensive outpatient clinic in Newport Beach, CA.

Colleen integrates mindful-awareness and body-based awareness into her work as a psychotherapist. These healing modalities are informed by her past work as a professional choreographer, drummer and certified fitness trainer. Colleen is certified as a focusing instructor and a focusing oriented psychotherapist. Colleen trained for four years under Dr. Lionel Corbett, MD, a Jungian analyst, teacher, and author who writes and speaks about the intersection of psychology and spirituality. Colleen co-leads a weekly mindfulness-based recovery group that is open to the public on Thursday evenings in Irvine, CA called Recovery for Everyone. She enjoys providing couples workshops, as well as presentations on relationships, recovery, mind-body awareness, and spirituality.

Colleen loves nature, hiking, meditation, music, and spending time with her family. Colleen is delighted to be a part of California Southern University, and enjoys bringing her passion for recovery, spirituality, relationships and growth to her work within the university.
