School of Behavioral Sciences Faculty

The faculty mentors in CalSouthern’s School of Behavioral Sciences are skilled and experienced clinicians as well as dedicated, responsive and highly credentialed educators.

They will be there for you—via phone, email or Skype—to answer any questions you may have and to help you master the course material. And, equally important, they will help you take the concepts you learn and apply them to resolve challenges commonly faced in clinical practice today.

Dorothy Hanson, PhD

Areas of Interest and Expertise
Consciousness studies, Jungian psychology, Myers-Briggs typology, transpersonal psychology, organizational psychology, at-risk adolescent treatment, spiritual emergency, qualitative methodology, phenomenological design

Dr. Hanson returned to school in mid-life to receive her PhD in psychology, with an emphasis in consciousness studies. She also completed a post-doctoral MAEd to enhance her teaching skills. As a professor, she has taught a wide range of psychology courses (more than 150) at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Dr. Hanson is a board member of IBAM (Institute of Behavioral and Applied Management). IBAM provides a forum for management educators and students to share their ideas, research and experiences in a friendly and supportive environment. She serves as a reviewer for IBAM’s peer-reviewed journal, JBAM. She is also a writer and editor with OuroborosWorks.

Dr. Hanson is a hiker, downhill skier and writer, attending retreats and facilitating groups at least twice a year. She also enjoys reading and writing about the connections between quantum physics and perennial wisdom. Her upcoming book, Life-Path Flow, is scheduled to be released in 2016.

A family-oriented person, Dr. Hanson spends quality time with her two sons, a daughter, three grandsons and a baby granddaughter.
