PSY 2507 Case Management: Assessment, Treatment Planning, Relapse Prevention and Aftercare

Credits : 3
This course provides an overview of case management for substance abuse treatment providers. The emphasis in this course is on the examination and exploration of the various roles of assessment, treatment planning, service coordination, relapse prevention planning, discharge planning, aftercare planning and documentation for the addiction counselor. The course will also address cultural perspectives and the legal and ethical aspects of substance abuse case management.

  • Integrate course concepts through the use of internet resources
  • Illustrate the various functions of case management within substance abuse treatment
  • Describe ways to use case management to serve various special needs of clients

  • Examine research on the methods to use and develop a client-comprehensive assessment
  • Integrate all documentation necessary for assessment, treatment planning, relapse prevention, discharge planning, and ongoing continuum of care
