PSY 87507 Human Sexuality

Credits : 3

This course is a foundational course in human sexuality and focuses on the physiological, psychological, and social cultural variables associated with sexual identity, sexual behavior, and sexual disorders. Using a biopsychosocial perspective, this course introduces concepts which supports the philosophy that human sexual behavior is an interaction of physiological, psychological and sociocultural processes.

  • Assess sexuality through the life span including response cycles, gender roles, sexual orientations, contraception, abortion, adoption, childbirth, and atypical sexual behaviors
  • Appraise the effects of sexually transmitted diseases and analyze the effectiveness of prevention methods
  • Analyze and evaluate the importance of trends and research in the field of sexuality then synthesize the information
  • Analyze and evaluate theoretical approaches to various relationships which include sexual difficulties, the components of love, attraction, intimacy, or sexual victimization
