A common misconception about online learning is that it is impersonal, that learners are on their own. At CalSouthern, that could not be further from the truth. Ashby Cynthia, PhD
Areas of Interest and Expertise
Dr. Cynthia Ashby has been a nurse educator for 14 years. She works full time at Los Angeles Trade Technical College. She is a tenured faculty member and has been at this community college for over 10 year. Dr. Ashby also teaches Public Health/Community Health Nursing at Mount Saint Mary’s University as an adjunct faculty member. She has taught on various levels of nursing from associate degree programs to Master of Science nursing programs.
Dr. Ashby has worked in a variety of healthcare settings which include telemetry, public health, case management, urgent care, hospice, home health, management, nursing education and she also served as a captain in the Air Force in the Air National Guard for 3 years.
Dr. Ashby is a member of the National League of Nursing, American Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau International Honors Society of Nursing, the Council of Black Nurses, LA Chapter, and Black Nurses Rock.
Dr. Ashby enjoys traveling, spending time with family, volunteering in her community, and participating in two philanthropist organizations in which is she an active member.
