CalSouthern’s faculty mentors are talented, highly credentialed educators who are also experienced practitioners in the subject areas in which they teach—and they use that practical experience to help learners apply the concepts they learn to current, real-world issues.

John McWilliams, LLM

Estate, trust and gift tax planning, tax, financial and structural implications for business, real estate tax.

John M McWilliams is the founder and shareholder of McWS Law Inc., a professional law corporation where he handles IRS controversy tax issues and business transactions for small business and high net worth individuals. His practice also includes estate, trust and gift tax planning.

John is an attorney and CPA with substantial experience in accounting and taxation. John has advised on tax, financial and structural implications for business and real estate transactions including tax strategies for corporations, private entities, partnerships and limited liability companies.

He earned his Juris Doctorate (JD) from Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles and a Masters in Tax Law (LL.M.) from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, California. He attended The Ohio State University and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) with a major in Accounting.

John is a Member of the State Bar of California and Washington State Bar, Member of the U.S. Tax Court and a Certified Public Accountant in both the State of California and State of Washington.

John enjoys travelling, skiing and is an avid college sports fan.
