CalSouthern’s faculty mentors are talented, highly credentialed educators who are also experienced practitioners in the subject areas in which they teach—and they use that practical experience to help learners apply the concepts they learn to current, real-world issues.

A common misconception about online learning is that it is impersonal, that learners are on their own. At CalSouthern, that could not be further from the truth. Faculty mentors get to know their students and provide one-on-one, personalized feedback on their assignments. Pamela Wilson , PhD

Dr. Pamela Ann Wilson is a native of Chicago, Illinois born to Lorenzo and Jewel Pogue-Wilson. She holds a Doctorate of Philosophy degree in Educational Leadership from Trident University International with an emphasis in eLearning.

Dr. Wilson joined California Southern University in 2016. She is currently an active duty Chaplain Assistant Sergeant Major in the United States Army with thirty-one years of active duty service.

Dr. Wilson held numerous assignments in the military beginning as Battalion Chaplain Assistant and culminating as the first Chaplain Sergeant Major for Installation Management Command leading 77 Installations and over 312 Chaplain Assistants. She served as Chief, Career Management NCO, known as Proponent Sergeant major for her branch responsible for shaping and managing the careers of 3000 chaplain assistants. She was selected to serve as the first Director of Personnel Proponency for the Army at Training and Doctrine Command where she developed the automated Professional Development Map now integrated on the Army Career Tracker. She also served as Senior Chaplain Sergeant Major in Baghdad, Iraq and Europe where she established the first recognition program for Chaplain Assistants in connection with the 100th Anniversary celebration of the Chaplain Assistant. Dr. Wilson was the first Chaplain Assistant selected to serve as Instructor at the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy, the premiere institutions for training top enlisted, where she was later selected as Director of the Spouse Leadership Development Course. She attended all required schools including the U. S. Army Sergeants Major Academy, Class 52.

Her leadership positions include President of the Junior Enlisted Council where she has a personal letter from the late Coretta Scott King; wife of slain civil rights leader, the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. She is a member of the prestigious Sergeant Audie Murphy Club. She earned numerous awards including the Bronze Star Medal, the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal and the coveted Military History Award for Class 52. She is founder and Past Worthy Matron of AREME of Babylon, Chapter #179 and Past Worthy Matron of Stars of Eternal Light, Chapter #42, Order of the Eastern Star.
