The 2014 Master Lecture Series featured a collection of acclaimed scholars, authors and practitioners presenting on a wide variety of topics to the CalSouthern community, as well as the public at large. The year was a record-setting one for the Master Lecture Series, with more than 2,500 people from 45 countries registering to attend events live, either in person or via streaming video. This diverse community also submitted close to 500 questions throughout the year, spurring lively discussions with our speakers. We thank our global audience which has played such a critical role in the continued success and maturation of the lecture series, which is now in its sixth year.
In 2014, business lectures included in-demand speaker and social media expert Katie Wagner—who in August gave a timely and pragmatic presentation on the essentials of LinkedIn. Psychology lecturers included Drs. Edward and Faith Teyber, professors at California State University, San Bernardino; Jon Daily, clinical director for Recovery Happens Counseling; Dr. Craig Childress; and Dr. Jeffrey Zeig, founder and director of the Milton H. Erickson Foundation.
At CalSouthern, we’ve heard your feedback and have planned the 2015 Master Lecture Series to be the best yet. We’ve sorted through hundreds of surveys submitted by our attendees to vastly improve the lecture experience. In 2015, we are excited to unveil high-definition cameras for our virtual attendees for a stronger visual presentation. In addition, we expect to have mobile capabilities in the first quarter to increase viewing flexibility. Soon, attendees will have the convenient ability to view live lectures from virtually any location just by using your smartphone!
Also, the interactive Q&A sessions will be extended in length to ensure additional engagement between our attendees and speakers. And those who do not have their questions answered during the live Q&A session can now submit questions to [email protected]; we will forward them to our speakers who will answer each individually.
The new year also brings a slate of expert speakers on many topics suggested by our audience. In the behavioral sciences, speakers will present on the topics of addiction, love and the brain, and veterans’ issues, to name a few subjects. We will also be presenting additional lectures of interest to learners in the School of Business. On March 6, CalSouthern will host representatives from the Project Management Institute who will outline “The Basics of Good Project Management.”
We look forward to seeing you at an upcoming lecture!
