Service members from all branches of the military will now be able to access the Department of Defense’s Compensation and Benefits Handbook for Wounded, Ill and Injured Members of the Armed Forces on their smartphones. The handbook is now available as a mobile app and can be downloaded for free at the iTunes Store, the Android Market, and Appolicious.
“Mobile apps allow recovering service members and their families access to valuable information right at their fingertips,” says John R. Campbell, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for the Office of Wounded Warrior Care and Transition Policy. “The Compensation and Benefits Handbook app is a comprehensive resource guide describing compensation and other benefits they would be entitled to upon separation or retirement as a result of serious injury or illness.”
Developed as a collaborative effort between the departments of Veterans Affairs, Labor, Health and Human Services and Education, as well as the Social Security Administration and military services, the Compensation and Benefits Handbook app includes all the information that seriously ill and injured service members need. It’s extremely intuitive and easy to use, structured to provide information on issues as they’re likely to arise, from recovery to rehabilitation to reintegration.
