I am honored join the academic staff of CalSouthern’s School of Behavioral Sciences. As part of my new role, I will be participating in three new, innovative, technology-driven offerings to better connect to and support PsyD learners working on their doctoral projects.
All learners working on or preparing to start their doctoral projects are invited to attend the new Doctoral Project Cohort program. The one-hour sessions will be held on Tuesdays at 9:00 a.m. PST and Thursdays at noon PST. The first sessions will be on Tuesday, September 16 and Thursday, September 18. We will meet via video conferencing through the utilization of Lync, a video-conferencing platform already available to all learners (at no extra charge) via Microsoft Office 365. (It’s a wonderful format that I have already been using with great success with doctoral learners; their feedback has been uniformly positive.) The sessions will give those working on their doctoral project the opportunity to have their questions answered and to engage with and benefit from the experience of other learners.
The second program is the highly successful Doctoral Project Boot Camp, which is held at CalSouthern’s Irvine campus, but which is also offered live to a virtual audience. It is an intensive two-day writing workshop geared toward learners enrolled in their project courses. This year’s Boot Camp will be held on November 5-6, 2014. Dr. Linda Fischer from the University of Southern California will be presenting, and Dr. Bob Weathers and Dr. James Shaw will be facilitating the two-day event. I will join, along with other doctoral project faculty mentors, as we help learners work through their chapters.
Finally, for those PsyD learners who have not yet started their doctoral project courses, but who are interested in learning what they can do to prepare for their project, I will be offering a Doctoral Project Proposal Workshop on October 10, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., PST. I will be covering all the essential information learners need to know as they move into their projects.
More information on these three programs will be sent to all eligible Learners at a later date—please watch your email inbox!
