Regionally accredited university to waive application fees, maximize value of transfer credits

Irvine, California—September 6, 2016—California Southern University has announced an initiative to help students displaced by the closure of ITT Technical Institute to continue their studies with minimal disruption.

Under the plan, CalSouthern will waive the application fee for students who were enrolled at ITT Tech at the time of the closure. As part of an expedited enrollment process, the students can be enrolled at CalSouthern within days of application and able to resume their studies the first day of the following month.

In addition, CalSouthern will accept up to 90 transfer credits into its bachelor’s programs, and will work to maximize the value of those credits for former ITT Tech students. In many cases, the university is also able to accept credits for professional and military experience or training, through recognized programs such as CLEP, DSST/DANTES or ACE.

“CalSouthern feels great compassion toward the ITT Tech students who suddenly found themselves quite literally locked out of their classrooms, with their academic and professional aspirations put on hold through no fault of their own,” says Dr. Steven Beazley, the university’s interim president. “Through this initiative, these students can get back on track with minimal delay and expense.”

The CalSouthern degree programs most applicable to the displaced ITT Tech students include bachelor’s degrees in business administration, criminal justice and applied science, in addition to its Master of Business Administration program. Bachelor’s degree programs are also offered in psychology and nursing.

Former ITT Tech students interested in the initiative are encouraged to contact CalSouthern at (800) 477-2254 or to visit www.calsouthern.edu.
