IUPA Members to Receive Benefits Including Tuition Reduction
October 13, 2012—The International Union of Police Associations (I.U.P.A.) and California Southern University are pleased to announce that they have entered into an educational partnership, giving I.U.P.A. members greater access to accredited, career-relevant online education in subject areas of interest to law enforcement and public safety professionals. I.U.P.A. members will receive a special group rate equivalent to a 10-percent tuition reduction upon enrolling in any of CalSouthern’s online degree and certificate programs in criminal justice, business, law, and psychology.
“CalSouthern is thrilled to partner with the I.U.P.A. and looks forward to introducing its members to the university’s personalized approach to online education,” says Erika Woldman, vice president of higher education partnerships. “The entire CalSouthern community is committed to helping each student achieve his or her academic and career goals, from a faculty that delivers individualized feedback tailored to each student’s interests and experience to academic advisors and staff that provide all the one-on-one guidance and support students need to succeed.”
CalSouthern serves students at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels. Topic areas of special interest to law-enforcement professionals include homeland security, terrorism response, digital crime, forensic psychology, leadership, ethics, management, drugs and substance abuse, the psychology of violence and trauma, and criminal law. The CalSouthern faculty is comprised of experienced educators who are also seasoned professionals in their area of specialty.
“The I.U.P.A. has long recognized the importance advanced education can have to a law-enforcement professional’s career,” says Sam A. Cabral, I.U.P.A.’s International President. “The greater the educational attainment, the greater the possibility of career advancement. But because of shift work, family obligations and other considerations, traditional ‘brick-and-mortar’ education is often not feasible for I.U.P.A. members. Quality online institutions such as CalSouthern offer the educational opportunity and flexibility our members need.”
Founded in 1978, California Southern University is an accredited university offering online degree programs at the associate, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels in business, law, criminal justice, and psychology to an international student body, utilizing a proprietary learning system.
