James Bowling, PhD
Areas of Interest and Expertise
Dr. Jim Bowling graduated from Oglethorpe University after thoroughly enjoying his four years as an undergraduate at the small, liberal arts college. His experiences with his professors inspired him to pursue his PhD in mathematics and become a professor himself. Since receiving his PhD in 2002, Dr. Bowling has taught mathematics at the undergraduate level in both traditional and online settings.
He enjoys working with students at all levels of understanding and his efforts in the physical and online classrooms have resulted in him receiving two separate teaching awards. He also has designed an online math course in real analysis and has consulted on the re-design of several other online math courses. Dr. Bowling enjoys many other activities besides teaching and thinking about mathematics. These include playing and watching basketball, watching movies of all types, and reading non-fiction and comic books. It should be mentioned, though, that far and away, Dr. Bowling's favorite pastime is hanging out with his wife and their four sons.
