Mathilde L. Genovese is a lawyer licensed in the States of California, Florida, Georgia and Illinois and focuses her practice on transactional and intellectual property matters. Ms. Genovese began her legal career as a trial attorney with the National Labor Relations Board and the Federal Labor Relations Authority. She then moved to Hong Kong where she practiced intellectual property with Baker & McKenzie and was recruited to serve as general counsel for a conglomerate with the largest foreign investment in China and business interests in Asia, Europe and the U.S involving finance, manufacturing, entertainment, agriculture and tourism. She later formed her own consulting company in Hong Kong and was Of Counsel to Tilleke & Gibbins ROP (“T&G”), the oldest and largest independent law firm in Thailand, where she devised investment and exit strategies for companies interested in investing in Vietnam and served as T&G’s Vietnam Resident Director and Chief Strategist.

Upon her return to the U.S., Ms. Genovese handled clearance, copyright, anti-piracy, split rights, licensing and international royalties’ issues for a major studio in Hollywood. She has negotiated and drafted a broad range of agreements including private placement memoranda, licensing, confidentiality, restricted stock, commercial leases, development and cooperation agreements, loans, terms and conditions, nondisclosure, management, employment, independent contractor and work for hire agreements. She also provides guidance on HIPAA privacy and security issues. Her intellectual property practice is concentrated in trademark and copyright protection, licensing, domain name disputes and intellectual property and forensic accounting audits.

Ms. Genovese conducts due diligence investigations and arbitration and mediation proceedings. She also prepares appellate briefs. She was a contract writer for nine months for Bloomberg LP’s newly launched Intellectual Property Law Report. Her clients include manufacturing, entertainment, home health care, manufacturing, medical, engineering and real estate development companies.

She has lectured extensively on a broad range of legal and business issues. In 2004, she was invited by the Glendale, CA chapter of Women in Film to lecture on Copyright, Licensing & Video Piracy. Ms. Genovese co-instructed Negotiation of Intellectual Property and Business Matters and Cross Cultural Negotiations at the Franklin Pierce Law Center, Concord, New Hampshire in 1999. From 1990 -1995, she was invited by the University of Southern California to lecture at their annual Asia Pacific Business Outlook Conference. She was also a guest lecturer on doing business in Hong Kong from 1988 -1991 for The Institut Superieur de Gestion.
