School of Behavioral Sciences Faculty

The faculty mentors in CalSouthern’s School of Behavioral Sciences are skilled and experienced clinicians as well as dedicated, responsive and highly credentialed educators.

They will be there for you—via phone, email or Skype—to answer any questions you may have and to help you master the course material. And, equally important, they will help you take the concepts you learn and apply them to resolve challenges commonly faced in clinical practice today.

Jann McCord, PsyD

Faculty Mentor, Behavioral Sciences

Areas of Interest and Expertise

Cultural diversity, family therapy, intercultural relationships


Dr. McCord’s love of travel has afforded her many opportunities to gain experience with cultural diversity and the field of psychology around the world. She has taught English overseas at several universities in Japan and worked with children at an orphanage in Nepal. She worked with the Peace Corps and taught in Poland. She also taught psychology courses under the U.S. Navy’s special education program, traveling around the world while doing so.

While in the U.S, she has worked for Family Services and the County of Santa Cruz. She is also a member of the Disaster Mental Health Team with the Red Cross and assists survivors when needed. Her areas of specialty include cultural diversity and family therapy. She teaches a number of courses and workshops in those areas. She hopes to continue teaching and traveling for many years to come.
