CPHCS - Certificate in Healthcare Services
Helping Healthcare Professionals Develop Emotional Intelligence
CalSouthern’s healthcare services certificate provides knowledge and practical skills to help professionals work more empathetically and effectively with the chronically and severely ill, or the aged, across a wide variety of settings. Whether you work in a traditional healthcare facility, a nursing home or assisted-living center, or provide online or telephonic information for a health-oriented organization, this certificate can help you serve your population with greater emotional intelligence and an increased understanding of the behavioral health issues faced by these individuals and their families.
Learners in the healthcare services certificate program will study a core curriculum which includes subjects such as chronic illness, the psychology of stress, death and dying and the mind-body connection. You can supplement this core curriculum with additional courses in the behavioral sciences, or add to your knowledge of the healthcare industry with courses in healthcare administration, economics or informatics.
The program is at the post-baccalaureate level, which means you need to have earned a bachelor’s degree to enroll. However, the degree does not have to be related to psychology or healthcare. And should you find the coursework rewarding, you can continue your studies by applying the credits you earn toward a Master of Science in Psychology or Master of Business Administration with a concentration in healthcare administration.
