Alumni Spotlight Series

Dr. Daniels

DBA GRADUATE

Dr.Daniels, DBA graduate 2025, returned to pursue her DBA to show her daughter what’s possible and to honor a challenge her grandfather gave her early in life. To make good on that promise, she leaned on CalSouthern’s flexible, one-class-at-a-time model, which enabled her to progress while balancing family and work. Her dissertation on employee turnover led to a recently published book, and she hopes to keep helping others succeed.

Dr. Sherrell

DBA GRADUATE

Dr. Sherrell, DBA graduate 2025, returned to school to show his children there is always more to reach for. While juggling deployments and full-time work, CalSouthern supported him with flexibility and faculty who “held the line” with him. Now, he hopes to teach and write a book to help others on their doctoral path. His message is inspiring: If you feel called to do it, start the journey.

Dr. Burnes

PSYD GRADUATE

Dr. Burnes, PsyD graduate 2025, returned at 68 to fulfill a lifelong dream and create a better life for her children. Her steadfast belief in hard work and persistence, paired with CalSouthern’s flexible, at-home format, helped her stay committed while studying at her own pace. She now hopes to combine her psychology training with her law-enforcement background to support those in the prison system.
