Dr. Robert Yates III, Ph.D.

Robert Yates III, Ph.D.is a faculty mentor in the School of Behavioral Sciences at California Southern University. Dr. Yates has been teaching for 8 years. Prior to joining California Southern University, Dr. Yates taught graduate psychology students at Purdue University Global and undergraduate psychology students at Fort Hays State University. In addition to teaching, Dr. Yates has experience in clinical practice at a community mental health center, a residential substance use treatment center, and private practice. Dr. Yates currently owns a group mental health practice, Serenity Psychological Services and Consulting LLC where he conducts psychological evaluations, provides therapy services, and supervises a staff of 5 other mental health professionals. Dr. Yates also has experience with research in psychology and worked as a research assistant and research fellow at the University of North Texas.

Dr. Yates attended Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas, where he graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology in 2006. He then attended the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas, where he received both a Master of Science degree in general psychology and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in clinical psychology in 2013. In 2013 Dr. Yates completed a one-year pre-doctoral internship at Pennsylvania Counseling Services in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, where he specialized in general mental health and substance use treatment. Dr. Yates also competed a one-year postdoctoral fellowship at High Plain Mental Health Center in Hays, Kansas, where he specialized in community mental health and substance use treatment

Areas of Expertise: Substance use treatment; general mental health; psychological evaluations, neuropsychology, executive function, metacognition, cognitive psychology.
