    Heidi Linn Smith, EDD

    Dr. Heidi Linn Smith has 25 years of experience in higher education administration in a wide variety of areas including University Honors, Study Abroad, Graduate Student Services, Freshman Success, and Student Account Services. As an administrator she has successfully launched and developed several professional practice graduate degree programs in the field of education at both traditional and online institutions.

    Dr. Smith holds a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Community College/Higher Education Leadership from California State University Long Beach, and a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology and Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from San Diego State University.

    Her research interests include access, retention, and persistence of underrepresented college students; financial literacy of college students; and professional development of student affairs personnel.

    What is the School of Education?

    The mission of the School of Education is to provide practical degrees to adult
    learners in an online environment. The School strives to equip the next generation
    of scholar-practitioners to serve as skilled, knowledgeable, and ethical thought
    leaders. The School of Education is designed to provide learners with the skills to
    research, implement, and lead effective curriculum and instructional practices to
    satisfy their educational and professional goals.

    What will I study in the Master of Education (MAED) degree program?

    Learners in this program will study educational theory and research best practices
    in curriculum and instruction to support student learning and achievement. Learners
    will explore how to apply data to drive continuous improvement in educational
    settings and demonstrate an ability to serve as scholar-practitioners.

    When and where can I begin an Education degree program?

    You can begin your education at CalSouthern now. Classes at CalSouthern
    begin monthly The admissions processes will depend on how quickly you complete
    the steps in the application process. You may speak to an Admissions Advisor over
    the phone (1-800-477-2254 ext. 47822) or request information online. Once you have
    completed the online request, you may hear from an advisor within 24 hours to
    discuss the next steps toward starting your degree program.
