Gilbert Gordon, DBA, a graduate from the School of Business and Management, was promoted to deputy comptroller of customs in Belize, which he credits to research conducted for his doctoral project as well as earning his Doctor of Business Administration degree at CalSouthern.
Gordon’s doctoral project, titled, Employees’ Experiences with Technology Adoption – A Case Study of Belize’s Customs Administration, greatly prepared him for this new position. His research provided a firsthand exploration of administration problems faced by customs in that region. At the end of this rigorous process, he was able to contribute significant findings that added to the improvement of their administration.
After graduating in August 2019, Gordon’s improved educational position made him a viable candidate for the post of deputy comptroller at Belize’s customs administration. Having a doctorate added to his curriculum vitae and, coupled with his work experience, made it an easy decision for the Ministry of Public Service and the Ministry of Finance to elevate Dr. Gordon to this esteemed role.
This accomplishment has improved his life through an increase in salary and furthered his professional development through additional work responsibilities – including the authority to make high-level decisions and formulate policies and strategic plans for the administration.
