Nurses Week
In honor of Nurses Week 2021, CalSouthern would like to salute the millions of nurses and healthcare workers around the world who have been tirelessly serving our communities during the COVID-19 pandemic. These individuals have endured many challenges in their personal and professional lives and their hard work and dedication to saving lives have not gone unnoticed. We are truly in awe of the nurses who are still fighting the good fight, the brilliant scientists who rapidly provided a life-saving vaccine, and nurses who, as well as caring for patients, are now on the frontlines every day providing vaccines to the masses.
There are not enough words to truly express our gratitude. Our “thank you” must be in the form of continued educational opportunities, personal support, recognition, and action for our nurses and communities, as well as embracing the ongoing work that must be done to battle back this pandemic and ensure an equitable future that includes health and promise for every human on this planet.
The School of Nursing is proud to share these exciting updates that will improve the educational experience for nursing learners.

Career Advancement for Nurses
Due to the pandemic and its effects on the global community, there has never been a greater need for nurses in advanced roles. The best way to do this is to earn an advanced degree, such as a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN). Below are some reasons why we believe this degree program can lead to a more fulfilling career in healthcare.
Why get a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree?
- You can Specialize: MSN graduates find they are competitive job candidates for leadership, administrative or managerial positions.
- You can become a Nurse Educator: Gain employment as a clinical nurse educator at colleges and healthcare facilities to teach nursing students.
- You can become a Mentor: As an MSN, your additional schooling and experience can help you become a mentor for new nurses.
- You will become an Expert: MSN graduates are more desirable as an employee with their in-depth knowledge of medicine and the healthcare industry.
- Earn Higher Wages: MSN degree holders gain significantly higher earning potential than their peers with a bachelor’s degree.
