CalSouthern’s Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program is helping nurses like Joanna Wood, a recent MSN graduate, advance their careers in healthcare. Joanna has been a registered nurse for 14 years. She graduated from nursing school at the age of 24 with her ADN and knew early on that she wanted to continue her education. Joanna went back to school three years into her career and received her BSN.
Thinking about her future goals and still unsure, Joanna continued working full-time for several more years gaining experience. She had been working in an oncology unit, and shortly after her BSN, she transferred to the bone marrow transplant unit.
After a few years, Joanna became invested in the transplant program and wanted to be able to make improvements and foster the growth of future nurses. She realized that being a nurse educator was the path that she wanted to take and that she would need to return to school in order to accomplish her professional goals. Joanna looked at several programs and read reviews on all of her options so she could choose the right one; deciding upon CalSouthern’s MSN program, which offered the perfect combination of convenience, affordability, and academic rigor.
As a busy professional with a young family, it was important to her that she was able to have the flexibility that comes with a 100% online program. Joanna started the CalSouthern MSN program in February of 2018 and completed it in May of 2021. She is very excited and ready to start her next adventure in nursing and to realize the goals that she set for herself.
